Webcam Auto refresh

This page contains a thing called a Java Applet Viewer.

This is a bit of software that allows the webcam to refresh every few seconds, making it almost like a movie.

We have experienced a lot of problems recently because the manufacturer of the software called Sun Systems, who produce the Java viewer, have updated their software but forgot to include the bit that automatically refreshes

They are too big an organisation to listen to us, so the only answer, as I see it, is to remove the updated software ( Java Version 6) and replace it with the old Version 5.

You should also stop the Java software automatically updating !

This has been a problem for several of our webcammers so this page explains what to do for the best enjoyment of the page.

First of all you need to remove the Version 6 of Java.

To do this, go into Control Panel on your PC.

Click on Add/remove programmes.

You should find on the list which will eventually appear, one for Java. Confirm that you are on Java Version 6.

Remove it by clicking on the Add/Remove button !

Go back to the webcam and scroll to the bottom of the page.

There is a link there to download Java 5       Java Download Page  ( or you can use this one!)

When you click on it you will see a link to download JRE 5 Update 11 Click on it and download it and then install it on your PC, it should all happen fairly automatically.

This should sort the problem out. I know it is a bit technical but it is not too hard.

Also if you can find how to get into the Java Control Panel, you can tick a box to say - No Automatic updates.

If it all goes pear shaped you can re download Java V6!
